A D.P.M. (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine), or podiatrist, is a physician that specializes in the evaluation and treatment of conditions and functions of foot and lower leg below the knee. As many diseases are often first manifested by symptoms in the feet, Dr. Kern is often called upon to point out a patient's possible affliction with other disorders, among them; diabetes, arthrities, and circulatory problems. Dr. Kern is also trained to recognize and correct congenital malformations of the foot in infants, treat sports-related injuries, and perform reconstructive/cosmetic surgeries and procedures.
Orthotics are custom made devices that slip into shoes. They are made from appropriately corrected, non weight bearing molds of the feet.
Most major medical insurance plans (i.e. Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Humana, ...). We also gladly accept Medicare patients.
As a Medicare, participating provider, we accept the amount Medicare approves for covered services. The patient is responsible for non-covered services as well as the $100.00 annual deductible and the 20% that Medicare does not pay.
